A Merry Coolidge Christmas

Here’s wishing all readers, regular or accidental, of this humble blog a very merry Christmas, and an auspicious start into what I hope will be a happy and prosperous year for all. It’s been fun doing my bit in spreading the message of Calvin Coolidge this past year, and I fully expect 2013 to be another banner year for the reputation and recognition of the 30th president – who knows, maybe one of the new books on Coolidge may turn out to be a sleeper best seller (I know all of us will do our part to ensure that happens).

For what will very likely by my final Coolidge blog post of 2012, I’ve dug deep in the Library of Congress files to come up with a picture showing then-Vice President Calvin Coolidge with a group of White House pages who seem to be clamoring for a share of the food platters. The picture is dated 12/27/1922 although it doesn’t really look all that wintery and Coolidge is only wearing his suit – and look, he’s actually smiling!
