A Coolidge Christmas

Wishing all readers of this blog a Merry Christmas and a good start into what I hope will be a happy, healthy and successful New Year 2011 for one and all, I’m reposting a quotation from Calvin Coolidge’s Christmas card of 1927 (I don’t even know whether this is the text in its entirety or just a quote from it, but maybe someone will enlighten me):

“To the American People: Christmas is not a time or a season, but a state of mind. To cherish peace and good will, to be plenteous in mercy, is to have the real spirit of Christmas. If we think on these things, there will be born in us a Savior and over us will shine a star sending its gleam of hope to the world.”
